Who we are: Research on Construction Equipment and Plant Engineering
The FVB organizes and supervises pre-competitive joint research by companies in the construction equipment and plant engineering sector with partner universities. Through its work, the FVB connects industry and academia to jointly advance research on construction equipment and plant engineering.
Joint research is the focus of the Research Association for Construction Equipment and Plant Engineering (FVB). It was founded in 1972 with the aim of promoting the innovation potential of its members. The FVB is one of 19 research committees within the Forschungskuratorium Maschinenbau e.V. (FKM e. V.) and currently counts 44 members participating in research on construction equipment. One of the FVB's most important tasks is to acquire financial resources for joint research in order to strengthen the innovation capability of its members.
The FVB supports the research and development activities of its members in the field of construction machinery by planning and implementing pre-competitive research projects. Our goal is to
- enable individual development of our members, and thus strengthen their competitiveness in a constantly changing market,
- develop the innovative capacity of its members through the design and implementation of convenient approaches,
- increase the safety and reliability of machines and systems by applying methods as well as the calculation bases, and thus reduce the product liability risk of our members,
- improve the functionality and cost-effectiveness of machines and systems through optimally adapted components, and thus minimize the product function risk of our members.
With its projects, the FVB promotes research as well as teaching and contributes significantly to the younger academic generation in Germany and Europe. It strengthens the dialogue between science and economy accelerating a research landscape for construction equipment from which every individual can benefit. In addition, the FVB organises and supports several seminars and conferences, such as the Construction Machinery Technology Conference, the Construction Machinery Information and Research Day, and compiles all scientific results in the FVB publication series.
