Completed projects: RobElKo – Robust Electronic Components
This project describes the method for application-oriented evaluation and classification of loads and the resulting recommendations for the use of robust electronic components for construction machinery.

Electrification, digitalisation and automation of construction machinery are development drivers that are leading to a dramatic increase in the use of electronic assemblies in construction machinery, which are often not designed for harsh operating conditions. This calls for robust and inexpensive electronics.
The project determined the requirements for reliable, powerful and robust sensor technology for construction machinery due to the extreme stresses involved. To this end, the first step was to measure the operating loads that occur on construction machinery attachments, which were then evaluated and classified. These were subsequently used to select suitable sensor technology with the aid of a database and to carry out further endurance tests on the shaker test bench until the electronic components failed. At the same time, a simulation-based service life prognosis was carried out.
